Gold Coast Conference to Create a 20-Year Vision for Queensland Tourism

The Queensland Government’s second annual Destination Q conference took place at the Gold Coast Entertainment and Convention Centre in August.

400 tourism operators from the state attended the conference for two days to discuss the future of the Queensland tourism industry. The goal was to create a vision for Queensland tourism spanning 20 years, which included creating new attractions and target markets.

Jann Stuckey, Tourism Minister and Currumbin MP, said that the conference offered the opportunity to promote the Gold Coast as the leading tourist destination in Australia.

Stuckey, who opened the event, also believed that Queensland will receive an economic boost due to the large number of attending delegates. The most important benefit to be gained from the conference, however, is that it allows the Queensland tourism industry to work together.

The Premier of Queensland Campbell Newman and the Chairman of Gold Coast Tourism Paul Donovan attended the event. Donovan said that having the conference at the Gold Coast also helped to promote the best the city has to offer.
