Bluesfest 25th Anniversary lineup announced

The Byron Bay Bluesfest celebrates its 25th year in 2014 with a stellar lineup that includes blues superstar John Mayer.

Mayer, who has won seven Grammy Awards in his career so far, will headline the event in April, according to goldcoast.com.au. Mayer will be joined by fellow headliners the Dave Matthews Band, last seen at Bluesfest in 2005. The in-demand group will play a different set on each night of the two-day festival.

Event director Peter Noble is delighted with the first batch of performers announced and said that people may be surprised by Mayer’s blues roots.

Other notable artists include KT Tunstall, Morcheeba and Erykah Badu. John Butler Trio will join the lineup for the tenth time since the festival’s inception, whilst Michael Franti returns three years after his last Bluesfest appearance. More acts have yet to be announced, but Noble said that half the tickets were sold before the first performers were even known.
