Gold Coast to Ramp it Up for the Next National Skateboarding Event in 2014
The Gold Coast will ramp it up for Skateboarding Australia’s National Titles in October 2014.
Skateboarding Australia (SbA) is in talks with the Gold Coast City Council and Convention Centre to bring the national event to the coast next year and to find a suitable venue to host the event. If the venue is situated in a convenient location and close to all local amenities, the Gold Coast could become a world-class skateboarding destination.
SbA is also in talks to make a large custom-built skateboarding venue in the next few years that will be able to host big international events. A word-class venue will reduce overcrowding at skate parks, and people from around the world could also enjoy Queensland’s sunny weather and beautiful beaches.
Furthermore, the national body of SbA is located in Queensland, so it’s only fitting that the Gold Coast should host the next national skateboarding event in 2014. 70 of Australia’s top skateboarders who qualified through the State Titles could compete at the National Titles in Queensland for the very first time. The event could attract up to 2000 people to the Gold Coast and prove that it’s truly the skate capital of Australia.
